The backdrop to this beautiful 14th cloister is the Chapel of the noble Pazzi family, erected around 1445 to the design of Filippo Brunelleschi.
It is a masterpieces of Renaissance architecture and is entered through a harmonious portico, and you can see above the actual doorway a small, polychrome dome decorated by Luca della Robbia.
The interior is impressive because of the colorful play pf the stone architectonic elements which stand out against the white plaster work. You can see further work by Luca della Robbia – in keeping with Brunelleschi’s design, he made the very beautiful glazed terracotta medallions.
